Big Shout Out

Just a short post and a BIG shout out to the following friends who will be giving their all at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii this weekend.

You can follow the race live at Ironman.com, something I will be doing. Last year my Mom followed the race live online for the whole 11 odd hours it took me. With South Africa being exactly 12hours ahead of Hawaii it meant she watched from 7pm to 6am. Now that is Mother Love.

The first shout out goes to Bryan Payne, bib nr 759, my friend who I met on the blog. We've never met face to face but chat as if we've been friends for years. If you want something more exciting than your morning newspaper, do what I did. Cancel your Newspaper and start reading his daily blog updates.

Second Shout out to Raoul de Jongh, bib nr 1601, a super fit and awesome South African Triathlete. If I only had half the energy and positive vibe the Urban-Ninja has I'll be unstoppable.

Then to Chad Holderbaum, bib nr 1654, another super fit athlete, who has set his mind at qualifying for Kona again and has done so again in 2010

Lastly to Chris Schauble, bib nr 163, a news anchor on NBC4 in Los Angeles and a big inspiration to me and a lot of fellow Triathletes, who I also met on the blog and was suppose to come to South Africa to do IMSA but couldn't make it at the last minute. Hope we can meet one day.

Well there are so many athletes racing this weekend and I wish them all the best of luck, may your dreams come true. To race in Kona is not about time or position for many but to live your dream and to reward yourself with all the long hours and sacrifices you've made to be there.

Have Fun and Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. It's going to be a blast. I leave tonight to San Fran via London so have this nagging suspicion that I'll miss the Kona coverage as I'll be in a plane somewhere. I may have to try see if my 3g card works on a plane ;o)

    Enjoy your week Johan.
